Shirley & Mike's Wedding | Glen Island Harbor Club
Shirley and Mike met at a friend’s birthday bash in college. They’d been dating for 16 years when they finally decided to make it official! These intellectual introverts know how to be silly and enjoy themselves. Shirley once told me, “No one understands me better than Mike.” What excited them most about their wedding was having all of their friends and family in one room, reuniting family from all over the world.
Glen Island Harbor Club has stunning, serene views. It’s a gorgeous location on an island in New York, not too far from the city, the perfect setting for an introverted couple looking to let loose with 100 of their closest friends and family. Shirley wore a lace mermaid gown by Svetlana Bridal Couture. The bridesmaids wore assorted grey dresses, perfectly complimented by their golden yellow rose bouquets. Shirley and Mike exchanged vows beneath an incredible white and green floral arch by Arcadia Floral.
My favorite moment of the day came during the reception. The song “Time of My Life” from the Dirty Dancing soundtrack played. In the middle of the dance floor, surrounded by dancing friends and family, at THAT moment in the song, Mike lifted Shirley into the air. Shirley waved her arm like a ballerina, Mike grinned and guests cheered. Mike slowly spun her around while still in the air, then slowly lowered her. It was so fun and romantic! Congratulations Shirley & Mike!
