Brenda & Bobby's Elopement
I met Brenda and Bobby at my favorite local bakery, Martha’s Country Bakery, in Queens. We had frozen hot chocolates, one of my favorites. They told me that they met through Brenda’s mother. I’ll spare the details, but trust me it was adorable and a little funny. Brenda’s working on her PhD in molecular genetics with a focus on aging research….um, wow. Bobby is a health and gym teacher in addition to being the NYC DOE Commissioner for both boys and girls swimming. I love when I can sit and talk casually with a couple and instinctively know this is a great couple, they are just terrific together. I loved them immediately.
Early one morning last fall, we spent a few brief hours together, as I captured their sweet special day. We started out the morning at Oakland Lake taking a few portraits around Bobby’s favorite spot. They then had an intimate wedding at the Armenian Church of the Holy Martyrs. This is the same church where Bobby’s mother, grandmother, aunts, and most of his Armenian family members got married. Talk about a family tradition, I love special traditions like that. It was so sweet and so personal. It was just Brenda, Bobby, and 12 of their closest family members.
Brenda wore a truly unique, gorgeous floral gown with POCKETS! She’s super crafty and fashioned her own wildflower bouquet as well as Bobby's boutineer. Bobby donned a sharp blue suit with his initials custom embroidered on his shirt cuff and a maroon knit tie to match Brenda’s shoes. They were stylin’!
While it was much shorter and a lot fewer people than what I’m used to for most weddings, it was certainly one I won’t forget. Congratulations Brenda & Bobby!
