Happy 3rd Wedding Anniversary to Maureen & Brian! I'm throwing back to 2014 for this lovely wedding. They had a gorgeous Rolls Royce, adorable flowergirls, gorgeous bridesmaid dresses, and their church has one of the most amazing ceilings I've ever seen! Please enjoy this trip down memory lane...
I have always loved the theatre. I grew up in the theatre in all aspects, performing and behind the scenes. It will always be a part of who I am. Not long ago I got involved in a lovely cabaret in Astoria, called Actoria. There were so many wonderful performers there baring their souls every Wednesday night, led & created by the wonderful Josh Bardier (seen in first image).
My goal with this personal project was to demonstrate the power of performance. When you have a truly powerful moment while singing you share a piece of yourself, you expose something raw & real, whether it be joy or heartache. Feel something.
Here are some of my favorite images from my time with Actoria.
Here I am, finally getting around to blogging about Heather & Ian's wedding. I say "finally" because this past Monday Heather & Ian became parents! CONGRATS GUYS!!! I can't wait to meet sweet little Scarlet.
As I mentioned in their engagement post, I love these two! We met at 2 previous weddings I was shooting. When they contacted me about photographing their wedding I was thrilled. Also, as fate would have it, we're neighbors! We shot their engagement session around Forest Park. Afterward I posted a preview on social media about one of the quieter moments of the shoot saying "A peaceful moment between to massive goofballs." Apparently I hit the nail on the head with that one because in the middle of the ceremony they quoted me! It was one of the coolest more surreal moments of my career. I am so happy to share these images from Heather & Ian's Navy & White wedding. It was fun & family filled! They had guests sign Jenga blocks instead of a guestbook. There was a delicious dessert table spread and guests went home with custom "Heather & Ian" goody bags filled with fruit roll ups. I know I snagged a couple. YUMMY!
Congrats again Heather & Ian!
I have wanted to do a shoot at Long Island City Pier since I moved to New York in 2008. It was probably where I first fell in love with New York. When Cathy and Antonello asked me if I had any suggestions on where to do their engagement session their only thought was somewhere with a great view of the city, my heart leapt - I knew just the place. Such a sweet couple - Cathy from Texas and Antonello from Italy, the two met and fell in love in this city we all adore.
Kelsey & Anish met in fencing club in college. So when they asked me if we could take a few portraits of them sword fighting, I was not surprised, I was super excited! And when they told me their first dance would be choreographed to "Your Song" from their favorite movie, Moulin Rouge, I thought the 3 of us might actually be soulmates. Their joy & love for one another was truly an honor to capture. The wedding was such a fantastic melding of cultures - I particularly enjoyed the Indian music breaks, with guests teaching each other dance moves. It was awesome! Please enjoy!
